Master’s Programme in Linguistics, Department of Languages and Literature, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a Guest Lecture “Psycholinguistics and Speech Pathology” by dr. Febrita Ardianingsih, M.Si. from Universitas Negeri Surabaya on Monday (22/11/2021) at 9 a.m.
dr. Febrita delivered material on speech disorders from the point of view of neuroscience and special education. The human brain has been prepared from birth to learn a language. The more children are exposed to spoken language as early as possible, the faster they can distinguish phonemes, and word rules, and detect sentence structure. Problems in speaking and language are different, but it is not impossible to appear together.
Besides that, the speaker conveys the causes of language disorders in general, strategies for developing oral language skills, and things that need to be considered by teachers/trainers. The material session was then continued with a discussion session and a question and answer session with the activity participants.
